UNFPAHealth Evaluation and projections Development of health & economic model for Adamawa

This analysis was undertaken to evaluate the impact of Nigeria’s national HIV/AIDS response from inception in 2002 to 2013. The epidemiological analysis used National and States HIV/AIDS databases both at the national and all 36 states level to show trends of important indicators. We conducted the impact analysis using the AIDS Impact Module (AIM) of the Spectrum® projection software and showed the impact of the national response on lives saved, quality of life, etc.

This contract was to be a short-term lead for training in the use of the RAPID module of the Spectrum® projection software and to develop a health & economic model for Nigeria and Gombe State for the USAID-funded Health Policy Project. Working with the National Population Commission (NPC), we developed a National economic model projecting the impact of family planning on sectoral developments over 18 years until 2030. We also trained NPC focal persons and supported them to present the RAPID to high-power government officials like the Minister of Health, National Assembly, Finance Minister, etc. Within this contract, we also worked with FHI/360 to develop RAPID projections for Gombe State as part of their FP advocacy strategy development process.
